What can a Health Coach do for me?
What is a Health Coach?
A Health Coach is someone who will be a support system for you while you accomplish your Health and Wellness goals. Like a Coach for a sport, the Health Coach doesn't do the work for you, but guides you towards the answers.
What is the difference between a Health Coach and a Registered Dietitian?
A Registered Dietitian has been certified by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Typically, a Registered Dietitian will tell you the exact amounts of nutrients that you need, where you get too little and where you get too much.
A Holistic Health and Wellness Coach is different because we work with the whole picture (that's where holistic comes from!). We take into account different factors that may affect your goals, such as your lifestyle, your career, and your family.
Are you a Therapist? I'm not sitting on a couch telling you about my childhood.
I am not a therapist. Therapists help to heal the past. While I honor that your past experiences have shaped your present self, Health Coaches are about working in the NOW.
So, are you going to tell me what I can and cannot eat?
Nope. You can eat anything that you want! I don’t deal in Snake Oil, nor am I selling a quick fix diet or an easy way to lose weight. Nutrition Coaching is about educating you about your choices, and your body. You ultimately are in the Driver’s Seat and can decide how to use the knowledge provided.
If you don’t tell me how to eat, how am I going to get skinny?
Nutrition Coaching isn’t about weight loss. It is about promoting wellness, finding your health and changing your lifestyle. We are going to take it slow so that the changes stick. I repeat, this is not a diet. You aren’t going to lose 20 in 6 weeks. You might lose some weight early on, you might not. What you will see is a positive change in yourself, which is much more valuable than weight loss.
